Privacy Policy

Yogaverse is run by Arun Enterprises Limited in New Zealand (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

When you create an account: your name, username, email address, date of birth, gender, yoga experience, and the date and version of the terms you accepted. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google profile picture.

Your profile photo: if you upload one. Photos are cropped and resized in your browser before they’re uploaded.

If you apply to teach: your name, email, phone, city, country, website, yoga styles, languages and a summary of your experience. If you’re approved, the teacher profile you choose to publish (such as your name, photo, background, experience, rates, location, languages, availability and age) is shown publicly on our Teachers page.

AI Yoga chat: the messages you send to the AI guide, its replies, and any name you give in the chat. These are stored on our systems, whether or not you’re signed in, and are linked to your account if you are. Please don’t share medical details you’d rather keep private.

Contact us and Give Feedback: your name, email, phone (if you give it) and message. These are sent to our email inbox so we can reply; they’re not stored in our database.

How you use the site: the pages you visit, where you first arrived from (for example a search engine or a link), your device type (mobile, tablet or desktop) and your country. For this we use a random identifier saved in your browser, not your name or IP address. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, we don’t collect this usage information.

Visit statistics: our website host, Vercel, counts page visits for us without cookies. To tell visits apart it uses a short-lived anonymous identifier that changes daily. This runs for all visitors.

Keeping logins and forms safe: to protect against abuse, we keep a short-term record of your IP address together with the username you tried to sign in with, or the fact that you sent a message, and limit how many attempts can be made. These records are temporary and are cleared automatically.

What stays on your device

The AI Yoga Coach camera runs entirely in your browser. Video is never uploaded or stored by us, and any recording stays on your device unless you choose to download it.

Your practice progress, journal entries and a copy of your chat history are saved in your browser on your device. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

Why we use your information

• To create and run your account and sign you in
• To show your profile and, for teachers, your public listing
• To answer your AI chat questions, and to review conversations so we can improve the AI guide
• To reply to your messages and feedback
• To understand which parts of Yogaverse are used, so we can improve it
• To send emails you need, such as verification, password resets and teacher invitations
• To keep Yogaverse secure and prevent misuse

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for third-party advertising.

Who helps us run Yogaverse

These providers handle information on our behalf and under our instructions:

• Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage (Sydney, Australia)
• Vercel: website hosting and visit statistics (USA)
• OpenAI: generates the AI guide’s replies (USA). OpenAI does not use information sent through its API to train its models.
• Resend: sends our emails (USA)
• Google: only if you choose “Continue with Google” (USA)

Some of these providers are outside New Zealand. We choose providers with appropriate security and privacy safeguards, and share only what they need to do their job.

How long we keep it

If you have an account: your account, profile, photos, AI chat conversations, website usage records and teacher application are kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, they’re deleted immediately (see below).

If you use Yogaverse without an account, or apply to teach without getting an account: your AI chat conversations, website usage records and teacher application are kept only for as long as we need them to run and improve Yogaverse, and then deleted.

Contact and feedback messages: kept in our email inbox for as long as we need them to respond. Copies of notification emails and messages in our inbox are deleted on request.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account menu or from Update Profile. When you do, we immediately and permanently delete everything linked to your account. Nothing is kept for any period:

• your login, profile and photos
• your plan
• your AI chat conversations and website usage records
• for teachers, your public listing, teacher photo and teacher application

We receive only a short notice that “a member” or “a teacher” has left, with no name or contact details. You’re welcome to sign up again later with the same email.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it by emailing admin@yogaverse.co.nz. We’ll usually respond within 20 working days; the Privacy Act allows this to be extended in some cases, and we’ll let you know if that’s needed.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we’ll also let members know.
